Job Description Summary
The Analyst will support Enterprise’s in-house expertise in policy research and development, data analytics, and visualization, providing directed quantitative research support to advance thought leadership in the affordable housing and community development sector in service of Enterprise’s strategic priorities (increase housing supply, advance resilience, upward mobility and racial equity). The Analyst must be able to clean, process, and synthesize findings from large data sets and collaborates with internal and external partners to develop visually engaging interactive and data tools and reports. The position provides significant technical capacity to the Policy Development and Research team, contributes substantially to multi-faceted research projects on existing and emerging issues in the field, analyzes programmatic and policy solutions, and assists in developing work products that elevate best practices and recommendations for policy makers and practitioners alike. The Analyst must be equally comfortable working with technical tools such as R, as well as common software packages including Excel. The Analyst should possess knowledge of (and willingness to experiment with) emerging next-generation data solutions to support internal and external stakeholders’ policy questions.
Job Description
Responsibilities :
- Perform data processing tasks and automate routine processes.
- Apply Enterprise’s data cleaning methods to ownership data in multiple geographies (primarily drawing upon assessor and property transactions data)
- Expand on Enterprise’s existing methodologies for cleaning structured but messy data
- Support research on ownership patterns to advance policy and programs that support the preservation of affordable housing, including in small- and medium-sized multifamily properties
- Support ongoing programmatic work in the Solutions division focused on the preservation of existing affordable housing and opportunities to facilitate new homes on faith-owned properties
- Support planned research on the trajectory of rents over time
- Facilitate and manage data extraction from large datasets, including microdata from the US Census, to identify trends related to the supply, demand, and affordability of the housing stock
- Work closely with other team members to problem-solve, trouble-shoot and perform quality assurance checks on analyses and data products.
- Assess and respond to requests for information, including timely and professional communication.
- Provide general support to Enterprise policy research projects and “policy helpdesk” requests, as assigned
- Research related issues and prepare literature summaries, written briefs, memos and report drafts, as required.
- Prepare project updates, and methods documentation, as required.
- Represent Public Policy on organization-wide data warehousing workstreams
