What are the responsibilities and job description for the Licensed Nursing Home Administrator position at Enterprise Estates Nursing Center?
Administrator
The primary responsibility of the Administrator is to plan, organize, develop, coordinate and manage the overall operations of the nursing facility in accordance with Federal, State and local standards, guidelines, core values and regulations and in accordance with the policies and procedures of this organization.
Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree with a major in a discipline concerned with service to people such as social work, hospital administration, business or public administration, gerontology or a related field
A valid, current Kansas Adult Care Administrator’s License
Possession of a valid Kansas driver’s license
Required Qualifications :
Minimum of five (5) years supervisory experience in a long term care facility with working knowledge of long term care State and Federal regulations, Medicare, Medicaid, employment law, OSHA and Worker’s Compensation
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience with general office equipment as well as all electronic platforms used by this facility
Ability to read, write, speak and understand the English language
Ability to tactfully communicate with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies / personnel and the general public
Knowledgeable of laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to hospital and nursing facility administrative procedures
Ability to plan, organize, develop, implement and interpret programs, goals, objective, policies and procedures necessary for providing quality care and maintaining a sound operation
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously utilizing organization and time management skills
Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace
Ability to work beyond normal working hours and on weekends and holidays as necessary
Responsibilities
Promotes the facility’s philosophy of culture change and person-centered and person-directed care model to ensure residents have the opportunity to grow and live enriched lives
Responsible for the overall financial performance of the facility
Assures adherence to all facility standards, programs, policies and systems
Chairs the facility’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement committee under the delegation of the Board of Governance and other delegated management leaders
Develops and implements a marketing plan to maintain facility viability and success and maintains occupancy and payor mix to maximize financial outcomes
Ensure the communication and enforcement of residents’ rights; reviews resident complaints and grievances; prepares written reports of action taken; discusses with resident and family as appropriate
Participates in governmental agency facility surveys
Monitors procurement and utilization of equipment and supplies sufficient to provide safe, sanitary, and quality resident services in all areas
Ensures that an adequate number of appropriately trained staff are on duty at all times to meet the needs of the residents
Maintains appropriate communication with management regarding all clinical, financial and operational issues
Assures department managers plan, organize, develop, implement, evaluate and direct facility programs and activities
Recruits, trains and leads an effective professional team of managers who implement programs and services which reflect the facility’s values, goals and ethics, and which support financial growth and stability
Manages Workers Compensation program in collaboration with Human Resources Department and facility Safety Committee
Completes all required reports and projects in a timely, efficient manner
Develops effective working relationships with staff and maintains an environment conducive to building teams
Functions as the facility’s chief public relations officer
Provides effective leadership and direction to department managers
Provides timely documentation regarding performance, counseling and guidance to department managers while promoting growth and competency in a positive and nurturing environment
Assists department managers with staff counseling and performance evaluations
Directs and implements safety practices including emergency preparedness
Assures departmental response and follow-up to facility’s management reports
Keeps abreast of professional trends through continuing education, active participation in professional associations, committee involvement, journals, networking and other available avenues
Participates in various facility, corporate and external committees and task forces
Ensures facility and personal involvement within the community
Develops and maintains written job descriptions that accurately reflect job responsibilities and are in compliance with regulatory requirements
Purchases all equipment and capital items in accordance with facility management and governing body approval protocols
Continues active involvement in the social and civic events in this community
Continues active promotion of this organization to appropriate groups within this community
Demonstrates and explains the Mission Statement of this organization
Develops and implements a culture of teamwork with the staff of this organization
Develops and maintains an effective management and staffing structure consistent with the Board of Director’s operating plans, actions and policies
Maintains an image of social propriety and professional integrity
Monitors the regulatory processes of the legislative and governmental bodies as relates to health care and this organization
Promotes a positive and efficient atmosphere by establishing an organization that has a formal system of accountability and clear chain of command
Provides excellent customer service to this organization’s residents and their family members as well and consultants and their staff, consultants and their staff, vendors, clients / visitors, staff and others, management staff and the Board of Directors
Completes special projects and performs all other duties as assigned
Experience Requirements
At least five (5) years in an administrative position that includes supervision of staff, long-range planning and effective budgeting is necessary
A clear understanding of a continuing care retirement community
Position requires a person with initiative, organizational skills, ability to work with minimal guidance while exercising good judgment and the ability to work well with people
Strong confidentiality
Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets and electronic mail is necessary
