Key Responsibilities
The Mechanical Technician will perform routine maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of mechanical equipment to ensure high levels of safe and productive performance. Key duties include:
- Maintenance of centrifugal pumps, electric motors, block valves, control valves, air compressors, and valve actuators.
- Repair and maintenance of reciprocating engines and associated components.
- Assistance with equipment replacements, including foundation work, initial alignment, testing, and startup.
- Participation in training programs, process safety management reviews, and safety meetings to meet regulatory requirements.
- Review and implementation of procedures to ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
- Maintenance of records and reports as required by regulations.
- Close coordination with the Area Supervisor regarding maintenance trouble reports and scheduled equipment maintenance.
- Ability to optimize work to minimize overtime.
- Performing remedial and preventative maintenance, maintaining facility appearance and safety through good housekeeping practices.
- Participation in available cross-training to develop skills in other areas.
- Utilization of precision tools and test equipment as needed.
- Response to operational emergencies as part of an area emergency response team.
- Performance of regulatory required inspections.
- Supervision of contractors performing specialty services.
- Training and guidance of others in Mechanical Technician duties.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you must possess:
- A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical environment or energy-related field (preferred).
- A minimum of 5 years mechanical experience.
- A minimum of 3 years gas-fired, engine-driven compressor experience (preferred).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with basic troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
- Experience in maintenance and repair of reciprocating engines and associated components.
- A current driver's license and good driving record.
- The ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, equipment repair manuals, reports, and federal, state, and local codes and regulations.
- Basic mathematical calculations and computer skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills.
- Takes initiative and works efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrates dependability and commitment to the role, team, and company.
- Ability to work in temperature extremes, lift up to 50 lbs., and wear special safety equipment.
- Ability to work a rotating call-out schedule and frequent overtime when required.
