What you will be doing

Enterprise Products Partners L.P. is one of the largest publicly traded partnerships and a leading North American provider of midstream energy services to producers and consumers of natural gas, NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals. Our services include natural gas gathering, treating, processing, transportation and storage; NGL transportation, fractionation, storage and import and export terminals; crude oil gathering, transportation, storage and terminals; petrochemical and refined products transportation, storage and terminals; and a marine transportation business that operates primarily on the United States inland and Intracoastal Waterway systems. The partnership’s assets include approximately 50,000 miles of pipelines; 260 million barrels of storage capacity for NGLs, crude oil, refined products and petrochemicals; and 14 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage capacity.

The Measurement Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and calibration of measurement equipment used in liquid and gas systems to ensure accurate custody-quality measurement in a marine terminal environment. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Proficiency working with, and a strong understanding of the operating principles of various types of flow meters (ultrasonic, Coriolis, differential pressure, etc..)
  • Strong understanding of custody measurement and familiarity with applicable API MPMS standards pertaining to liquid and gas hydrocarbon measurement.
  • Troubleshooting, operating, repairing, and maintaining composite sampling systems.
  • Collecting and storing liquid and gas samples from composite sampling systems including cryogenic liquid systems and sampling.
  • Ability to operate and maintain various types of hydrocarbon meter provers including but not limited to small volume provers and bi-directional ball provers to ensure custody quality measurement.
  • Calibrating/Programming of flow computers, changing orifice plates, and performing calibrations on pressure and temperature transmitters.
  • Calculating volume rates and sizes of orifice plates to set flow rates.
  • Acquiring information on site using stain tubes or electronic devices for obtaining H2S, CO2, O2, water content and nitrogen.
  • Scheduling, completing, and witnessing flow tests on orifice meters and ultrasonic meter runs.
  • Developing and maintaining meter test schedules.
  • Installing equipment from drawings, schematics, and manufacturer's manuals.
  • Troubleshooting and rectifying equipment failures using voltmeters and test equipment.
  • Planning, scheduling, and coordinating work with other departments to ensure timely completion of equipment installation, repair, and calibration.
  • Installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting process controls, regulation equipment & relief devices.
  • Operating appropriate PC software.

What Your Background Should Look Like (minimum Qualifications)

The successful candidate will meet the following qualifications

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent is required.
  • Technical certification or equivalent training in a mechanical environment or energy related field preferred.
  • At least 2 years previous experience in the measurement field is desired.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record is required.
  • Possession of a strong commitment to personal and job safety.
  • Must demonstrate mechanical aptitude and dexterity in the use of tools and equipment.
  • Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations and possess basic computer skills including spreadsheet and word processing applications.
  • Must have good decision-making skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Ability to work independently as well as the ability to maintain and promote good working relationships within a team environment.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, be flexible, perform duties and handle multiple tasks under potentially stressful and/or hazardous conditions.
  • Must have reliable means of contact for call-out purposes.
  • Must be able to work overtime and handle callouts including weekends and holidays.
  • Must live or relocate to within 1 hour response time of job assignment.
  • Must understand and possess ability to use computers and understand and interpret equipment manuals.
  • Will be required to provide understandable and legible reports.
  • Must have a history of being dependable and reliable, take pride in a job well done, and enjoy working hard.
  • Must be eligible to obtain a TWIC card
  • Must be able to obtain all necessary Operator Qualifications required to perform work on regulated assets.
