Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Billing Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of ambulance claims, collaborating with insurance companies, and maintaining communication with various agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Bill Ambulance Claims: Process and submit accurate ambulance claims for payment
Verify Insurance: Ensure insurance coverage is in place for all transport services and verify eligibility
Correct Rejected Claims: Review and correct rejected claims at Clearinghouse for resubmission
Work Denied Claims: Investigate and resolve denied claims, ensuring proper documentation and resubmission when necessary
Mail Correspondence: Send out necessary billing statements, notices, and other relevant mailings to patients and agencies
Answer Phones: Provide excellent customer service by answering billing-related inquiries from patients and agencies
Take Bill Payments: Process patient payments and provide payment updates
Answer Billing Questions: Respond to inquiries regarding billing status, charges, and insurance coverage
Schedule Transports: Coordinate with the scheduling team to ensure proper billing for scheduled ambulance transports
Manage Accounts for Multiple Agencies: Oversee billing and documentation for multiple client agencies
Communicate with Agencies: Coordinate with agencies for required documents and information related to claims
Follow-up on Unpaid Ambulance Claims: Track and follow up on unpaid claims to ensure timely reimbursement
Communicate with Insurance Companies: Work directly with insurance providers to follow up on claim statuses and resolve issues
Maintain Prior Authorizations: Ensure that prior authorizations with Medicare and other payers are properly maintained and updated
Qualifications:
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience: Prior experience in medical billing, particularly in ambulance services, is highly preferred
Skills:
- Ability to self-start and work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong multitasking abilities, capable of managing multiple accounts and priorities
- Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all billing and documentation processes
- Familiarity with medical terminology and billing codes
- Proficiency in ICD-10 coding
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payer systems
- Strong computer literacy, including a high level of proficiency in Google Suite and billing software
