Position Summary
Coordinator - Aviation//Simulator Instructor
Salary Schedule: Commensurate with education and experience according to Salary Schedule C3.
To coordinate both credit and non-credit aviation programs, to supervise the simulation labs, to operate and provide instruction using simulators, and to conduct Aviation outreach sessions at local schools.

In addition to adhering to the general guidelines as specified by the Faculty/Staff Handbook, Associate Dean of Learning, the Dean of Instruction, the Dean of Students, the President, and Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees, responsibilities will include the following:
- Assist in the development of the aviation programs and the simulation labs.
- Coordinate both credit and non-credit aviation programs.
- Recruit and supervise faculty and staff in aviation programs.
- Plan and recruit students for the aviation summer camps.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of credit and non-credit aviation programs.
- Assist with student recruitment and advertisement of the simulation lab and other aviation programs.
- Serve as a simulator instructor.
- Assist in providing a safe environment for faculty, staff, students, and visitors.
- Drive mobile unit to local schools to discuss careers in aviation.
- Assist with the upkeep of Simulators and the mobile unit.
- Follow-up on students to ensure their success in the program.
- Assist in the creation of Aviation courses and curriculum.
- Develop and manage the aviation budget.
- Purchase needed instructional materials, supplies, and equipment.
- Assist in the collection of data and the creation of reports for stakeholders.
- Maintain appropriate documentation.
- Any other duties as assigned by the President and Dean of Instruction.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Must be familiar with the FAA rules and regulations.
- Possess a Certified Flight Instructor Rating or Military Instructor Pilot Experience.
- Possess the ability to drive a mobile unit.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- An understanding of and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the two-year college system.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and various situations in a professional manner
- Knowledge of employment, technological, and training trends in the aviation industry.
- Supervisory or management experience is required.
- Experience in the aviation industry.
