Position Summary

The Director of Institutional Effectiveness/Research and Grants position provides leadership and coordination in the areas of institutional evaluation and data analysis; planning and assessment; survey design and administration; data query and retrieval; institutional, local, state, federal, and accrediting compliance and reporting as well as research and data support for grant and institutional development. The Director is responsible for identifying grant opportunities, preparing grant applications, securing grants of all types, and assisting in the management of approved grants in specified functional and program areas. This includes but is not limited to leadership with strategic planning, accrediting, institutional effectiveness and evaluation.

This position will be based at the discretion of the President.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Adheres to the policies, rules, and standards of Central Alabama Community College, Alabama Community College System, accrediting agencies and federal regulatory bodies.
2. Leads the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of institutional effectiveness and research strategies.
3. Provides leadership and support for data-driven decision-making across the college, ensuring alignment with the college's strategic goals.
4. Collaborates with college leadership to inform institutional goals, academic planning, and program assessment processes.
5. Supports the SACSCOC Accreditation Liaison in data collection, assessment, and reporting for accreditation standards, ensuring compliance with SACSCOC standards.
6. Oversees the design and conduct of institutional research studies that assess student success, program effectiveness, and institutional performance.
. Maintains institutional databases and data management systems, ensuring data integrity, security, and accessibility.
8. Develops and manages surveys, assessments, and other tools to gather data on student satisfaction, learning outcomes, and program effectiveness.
9. Identifies funding opportunities through federal, state, and private grants to support the college's academic programs, student services, and institutional priorities.
10. Leads the preparation and submission of high-quality grant proposals, ensuring alignment with institutional goals and strategic initiatives.
11. Works with faculty, staff, and administration to develop and articulate compelling narratives and data-driven justifications for grant proposals.
12. Monitors grant budgets, reporting requirements, and compliance to ensure the effective use of awarded funds in collaboration with appropriate department.
13. Establishes and maintains relationships with external funding agencies, foundations, and organizations to enhance the college’s ability to secure grants and other funding.
14. Prepares and submits required reports to state and federal agencies, including but not limited to DAX, IPEDS, ACCS, and other compliance or funding organizations.
15. Ensures the college's compliance with accreditation standards by providing data and reports for regional and specialized accreditation processes.
16. Produces reports and data dashboards that inform institutional planning and decision-making, highlighting key performance indicators (KPis) and outcomes.
17. Analyses quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends, inform strategic initiatives, and provide actionable recommendations.
18. Presents findings in clear and meaningful ways to various stakeholders, including administrators, faculty, and staff.
19. Offers guidance on the interpretation of institutional data to improve teaching and learning, student services, and operational efficiency.
20. Supports academic and administrative units in conducting program reviews, assessments, and evaluations to enhance continuous improvement.
21. Develops, implements, and refines processes for evaluating academic and nonacademic programs and services.
22. Assists in the development of student learning outcomes (SLOs) and ensure alignment with accreditation requirements.
23. Works closely with faculty, staff, and administrators to foster a culture of evidence-based decision-making.
24. Provides training and support to college personnel in the use of data tools, research methods, and assessment strategies.
25. Stays informed about emerging trends and best practices in institutional effectiveness and research in higher education.
26. Performs other duties as assigned that pertain to this position as assigned.

Qualifications

1. Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university is required.
2. Experience in institutional data analysis and reporting is required.
3. Strong knowledge of institutional research methodologies, data collection, analysis, and interpretation is required.
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to diverse audiences is required.
5. Demonstrated strong grant writing skills, with the ability to develop compelling narratives and detailed proposals is required.
6. Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team is required.
7. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines is required.
8. A commitment to continuous professional development and staying current with trends in higher education research, assessment, and grant funding is required.
9. Ability to maintain confidentiality and ensure data security is required.
