The FAME Industrial Maintenance Instructor is responsible for planning, preparing, presenting, and evaluating classroom instruction and related activities. They will provide competent classroom and laboratory instruction in the area of credentialed expertise. The instructor must strive for continuous improvement of the curriculum, learning activities, and instructional resources to ensure student success. In addition to instructional duties, the instructor will also be fully involved in the institutional planning process and developing the goals and objectives of the assigned academic department.

$42,108 – $94,363 (9 months, Exempt)
$13,001 - $29,184 (3 months, Summer)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTONS: The FAME Industrial Maintenance Instructor shall perform the duties as specified in conformity with policies established by the Alabama Community College System Board of Trustees and the J.F. Drake State Community and Technical College Faculty and Staff Handbook.
- Provides quality classroom instruction in the area of Industrial Maintenance or Electrical Technology
- Plans comprehensive, educational courses of study in the area of Industrial Maintenance including instruction in mechanical maintenance, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, electric motors, predictive and preventative maintenance, electrical, motor controls, PLCs, and robotics
- Informs students concerning course requirements, evaluation procedures, attendance requirements and academic progress
- Attends the FAME AMT (Advanced Manufacturing Technician) Academy and incorporate the Manufacturing Core Exercises (MCEs) and FAME soft skills into daily instruction.
- Seeks continuous improvement in curriculum, instruction, and resources
- Participates fully in the institutional planning process and assists in carrying out the overall instructional mission of the College
- Prepares and grades assignments, projects, and examinations as required
- Assists in registration and pre-registration as needed
- Maintains an inventory of assigned equipment and supplies
- Serves on College committees when requested
- Submits required reports to the Division Chair, Assistant Dean of Instruction, or Dean of Instruction
- Informs students of educational and occupational opportunities
- Provides a proper instructional environment and maintains good human relations in the classroom so that learning is more effective
- Participates in faculty and professional organizations
- Recommends library books and other instructional materials
- Retains and submits documentation as requested to support accreditation efforts
- Performs other work-related responsibilities as assigned by the Division Chair, Associate Dean of Instruction, Dean of Instruction, and/or the President

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of an earned Associate’s degree in electricity, industrial maintenance, related field, or equivalent hours (60) in specialized coursework in electricity
- Six (6) years of full-time work experience as a practitioner in the field
- Hands-on knowledge of DC/AC Theory, Solid State Devices, Programmable Logic Controllers, Motor Controls, Mechanical Maintenance, Hydraulic Systems, Gearboxes, Electric Motors, Predictive and Preventative Maintenance, VFDs, Fluid Power and Robotics
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, other employees, and the public
- Ability to project a professional and congenial demeanor
- Excellent oral, auditory, and written communication skills
- Basic computer (word processing) skills
- Excellent organizational skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Earned Bachelor’s degree
- Prior teaching experience
- Curriculum development and distance learning technology and practices
