Position Overview:
ETEK's Creative Services team who supports the U.S. Mint is seeking a highly organized and experienced Print Specialist to support the planning, coordination, and production of printed materials across a wide range of product and marketing initiatives. The ideal candidate will work closely with internal design staff and commercial printers to ensure that all printed deliverables meet high-quality standards and align with federal brand guidelines.
This role demands strong knowledge of commercial print processes, quality control, color management, and proficiency in the Adobe Creative Suite. The Print Specialist will serve as the key liaison between the U.S. Mint Creative Services team and external print vendors.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage and oversee the end-to-end print production process for marketing, packaging, promotional, and collateral materials.
- Collaborate with in-house designers to prepare press-ready files and ensure all technical specifications are met (bleeds, resolution, color space, file formats).
- Coordinate with commercial printing vendors on print job specifications, proofs, schedules, and delivery logistics.
- Review and approve printer proofs (digital, press, or soft proof) for accuracy and color fidelity prior to full production.
- Monitor production schedules to ensure timely delivery of all printed materials.
- Maintain and update a repository of print specifications, paper stocks, and vendor performance data.
- Evaluate printing bids and provide technical input on vendor selection.
- Ensure compliance with federal standards, accessibility guidelines, and the U.S. Mint’s brand and visual identity.
- Troubleshoot prepress and production issues, including print color accuracy, finishing, and packaging details.
- Provide technical expertise on emerging print technologies, sustainability in printing, and cost efficiencies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Print Production, Visual Communications, or a related field.
- 5 years of professional experience in print production, preferably in a government or large-scale commercial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of commercial printing methods including offset, digital, variable data, wide format, and specialty finishes.
- Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat) with the ability to manipulate and prepare final art files.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, organization, and vendor management skills.
- Knowledge of federal branding guidelines, Section 508 accessibility standards.
