As a Senior Payroll Tax Analyst, your primary responsibility is to ensure compliance with all tax and reporting deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for corresponding with government agencies, clients, and colleagues. You must be organized and responsive to facilitate payroll processing and EP operations. Accuracy, accountability, and a balanced workflow are crucial for maintaining tax reporting compliance with federal and state regulations. The Senior Tax Analyst must possess the ability to analyze complex tax issues and make independent decisions. Additionally, they may be required to work overtime during busy tax periods, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, foreign, and/or local payroll tax reporting deadlines by filing wage/tax reports through paper or electronic methods in accordance with department procedures and tax authority regulations.
- Reconcile payroll tax reports on a regular basis, such as daily, monthly, quarterly, or annually, to ensure full compliance.
- Prepare yearend tax audits and reconciliations prior to W2 processing.
- Develop audits to find payroll tax irregularities.
- Respond to inquiries from federal, state, federal, and foreign agencies in a timely and efficient manner.
- Prepare and submit state and local tax registrations as needed.
- Collaborate closely with internal and external clients to resolve issues promptly.
- Process amended tax returns for previous years within designated deadlines.
- Stay updated on governmental updates related to assigned states to ensure the payroll system is up to date.
- Support financial and SOC audit requests.
- Provide support for system testing and user acceptance testing projects for tax compliance.
- Assist with special projects as requested by management.
- Lead projects with specific deliverables, requiring minimal guidance.
- Train staff, associates, and interns on standard department procedures.
- Create or improve department procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
- 4 years of experience in accounting, payroll, or payroll systems.
- Payroll.org Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) Designation preferred.
- Knowledge of payroll taxes and basic accounting.
- Proficiency in MS Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organization and multitasking abilities.
- Proficiency in MS Teams, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Ability to use a 10-key calculator or relevant skills for quick calculations.
- Strong communication skills to provide training to staff and associates.
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Capability to take direction from management and execute tasks efficiently.
- Ability to work independently with minimal guidance.
- Strong problem-solving skills to improve processes.
