Job Description:

We are seeking a Discovery Assistant that will work with our Program Lead to plan and implement the program.
Job duties will include:
- Working under the direct supervision of the Discovery Program Lead, to plan and implement Discovery opportunities for students grades K-8.
- Teaching Discovery Lessons in the classroom.
- Monitoring and managing student behavior during Discovery lessons.
- Identifying and making connections with local experts to teach Discovery lessons.
- Assisting with scheduling and program budget management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
- Two years of study at an institution of higher education; or obtained an associate’s degree or higher degree preferred but not required.
- Comfortable working with students in grades K-8.
- Creative and Innovative spirit.
- Positive and upbeat attitude.
- Strong reading, writing, and speaking skills in English.
- Classroom management skills.
- Highly organized and good at scheduling.
- Confident in making phone calls and building community connections.
- Basic tech skills.
Essential Functions
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Sit, stand, walk, and kneel for required periods of time.
- Ability to navigate different kinds of terrain on fieldwork such as steps, mountain paths, and uneven ground.
- Ability to walk at least a mile while on fieldwork with students.
- Ability to endure climate conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, snow experienced at recess or on fieldwork.
- Ability to move quickly/run in case of student emergencies.
- Ability to restrain a student in accordance with training, for safety reasons if necessary.
- Speak, read, write, and proficiently in English.
- Able to see and hear adequately to perform job description.
- Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, computers, and/or controls.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $19.00 per hour
Expected hours: 29 per week
