Entheos Academy is a K-8 Service Learning charter school with campuses located in Kearns and Magna, Utah. This posting is for our KEARNS site.
Position Summary:
The Part-Time Student Support Specialist/504 Coordinator is responsible for providing students with targeted behavior and academic support services and overseeing the implementation and compliance of Section 504 plans. This position also supports efforts to improve student attendance by working closely with students, families, and staff to identify barriers and promote consistent school engagement. This is a part-time position with less than 29 hours per week.
Key Responsibilities: Student Support Services (Part-Time Scope)
- Consult with families and connect them with appropriate community or school-based resources.
- Participate in Student Support Team (SST) meetings to help identify and monitor student needs.
- Provide social skills training to students as needed.
- Supervise students during lunch, recess, or in-school suspensions as required.
- Conduct safety screeners, prepare safety plans, and distribute safety plans.
- Assist with student discipline by investigating incidents, helping students with restorative justice, reflection sheets, and follow-up on “repair the harm” activities.
Academic Support
- Provide short-term, targeted support to students experiencing academic, behavioral, or emotional challenges.
- Participate in MTSS /DIT meetings to help identify and monitor identified student needs.
- Collaborate with school staff to support the implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions.
- Track academic progress for students identified at MOY with minimal to no academic growth.
- Consult with families as needed.
504 Coordination
- Coordinate all aspects of Section 504 plan development, implementation, and compliance.
- Facilitate 504 meetings, including initial eligibility, annual reviews, and plan updates.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records per federal, state, and district guidelines.
- Support staff with implementing accommodations and provide training or consultation as needed.
Attendance Support
- Monitor student attendance data and identify students with chronic absenteeism or emerging attendance issues.
- Partner with administrators, counselors, and families to address attendance barriers.
- Conduct check-ins with students and families to provide support and intervention strategies.
- Help develop attendance improvement plans and assist with outreach efforts as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, School Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work.
- Valid certification or licensure (as applicable by state requirements).
- Knowledge of Section 504 regulations, IDEA, Multi-Tiered Systems of Support, and student support services.
- Experience working with diverse student populations and supporting students with attendance challenges is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive issues professionally.
Schedule & Work Environment:
- Part-time position: Less than 29 hours per week
- On-site work environment; some virtual meetings or outreach may be required.
- Occasional evening hours may be needed for family meetings or school events.
Essential Functions
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Sit, stand, walk, and kneel for required periods of time.
- Ability to navigate different kinds of terrain on fieldwork such as steps, mountain paths, and uneven ground.
- Ability to walk at least a mile while on fieldwork with students.
- Ability to endure climate conditions such as heat, cold, wind, rain, snow experienced at recess or on fieldwork.
- Ability to move quickly/run in case of student emergencies.
- Ability to restrain a student in accordance with training, for safety reasons if necessary.
- Speak, read, write, and proficiently in English.
- Able to see and hear adequately to perform job description.
- Reach with hands and arms and use hands and fingers to handle objects and operate tools, computers, and/or controls.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
