Job Description:
We are seeking a skilled Fiber Splicer with expertise in ribbon splicing to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in fiber optic installation and maintenance, specifically in handling ribbon fiber optic cables. The Fiber Splicer will be responsible for installing, testing, and repairing fiber optic networks to ensure efficient and reliable communication systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform ribbon fiber splicing, including fusion splicing and other splicing techniques as needed.
- Interpret and work from technical specifications, diagrams, and blueprints.
- Conduct optical testing to verify splicing integrity and network performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues related to fiber splicing and connectivity.
- Collaborate with installation teams to ensure timely and accurate project completion.
- Maintain documentation of splicing work, testing results, and inventory of materials.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry standards during all fiber optic work.
- Provide training and support to junior splicing technicians as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in fiber optics is preferred.
- Proven experience in fiber splicing, specifically with ribbon cables.
- Familiarity with fiber optic testing equipment (OTDR, power meters, etc.).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to job sites as needed.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with network troubleshooting and repair.
- Knowledge of current fiber optic industry trends and technologies.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
