Professional Medical Biller/Coder

Position Summary

The Medical Biller/Coder will be vital in managing billing processes, coding accuracy, and ensuring timely reimbursements. This part-time position offers flexible hours and a hybrid work environment, allowing for a combination of in-person and remote work.

The ideal candidate must be compassionate and strongly desire to support and advocate for patients as they navigate the complexities of their health insurance benefits.

Key Responsibilities

• Medical Coding: Accurately assign and sequence ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes for services rendered.
• Billing Management: Prepare and submit clean claims to insurance carriers electronically or via paper as needed.
• Claims Management: Monitor claim status, resolve denials, and ensure timely reimbursements.
• Patient Billing: Handle patient accounts, answer billing inquiries, and process payments.
• Estimates & Patient Assistance: Oversee patient estimates and assist with patient assistance programs, ensuring financial options are accessible for those in need.
• Receivables Management: Monitor and manage receivables to ensure timely collections and accurate record-keeping.
• Collaboration: Collaborate with the clinical team.
• Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations and coding guidelines.
• Reporting: Generate and review billing reports to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  

Qualifications

• Education & Certification:
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or equivalent certification.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing and coding.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology, insurance guidelines, and billing software.
• Skills:
  • Proficient in ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
  • Knowledge of insurance claim processes, including Medicaid, Medicare, and commercial payers.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Compassionate with a strong desire to assist patients in need.

Work Environment

• Hybrid Schedule: Combination of in-person work at our Wyoming, MI office and remote work.
• Hours: Part-time with flexible scheduling.
