POSITION SUMMARY:
The role of Logistics Planner requires a candidate who has previously worked in and/or provided Supply Chain and Logistics services, preferably for a high speed manufacturing facility; with previous responsibilities in logistics planning, scheduling, and optimizing suppliers and carriers to ensure maximum profitability and service level on every shipment. The Logistics Planner will work to organize all transportation activities, to include following the flow of finished goods in the warehouse, orchestrating transportation movements and tracking shipments. The primary objective of this role is to ensure on time delivery to the customer within the company’s quality standards. This role is one that bridges the functions and responsibilities of supply, sales, customer support and delivery.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Ensure products are delivered on time, damage, and defect-free; monitor/maintain key relationships
- Organize and follow all in-bound and out-bound shipments to ensure goods are promptly dispatched and tracked through to/from delivery
- Plan and track the shipment of finished goods according to customer requirements
- Make necessary movements within ERP system to maintain inventory tracking
- Proactively work on identifying improvement opportunities and effectively implement any changes to the logistics processes
- Resolve issues during the shipping period, communicating any delays to the relevant departments and persons
- Arrange same/next day deliveries
- Maintain records of warehouse stock and executed orders
- Prepare accurate reports for upper management
- Coordinate order management of finished good production with clients
- Identify opportunities to reduce transport costs and improve margins
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients/customers by providing excellent customer service and understanding their business needs
- Coordinates Dunnage returns and inbound shipments to the plant
- Promptly completes necessary paperwork
