Our Waco, TX facility manufactures aluminum beverage cans commonly used for soft drinks, beers, energy drinks, teas and non-carbonated beverages. Using state of the art can-making technology, this high speed environment provides rewarding manufacturing opportunities.
The Production Sorter responsible for operating sorter equipment to segregate, transfer, and rework finished products in a manufacturing environment. This role ensures the quality of product packaging before storage and requires attention to detail and collaboration with team members.

Daily contact with other departmental personnel. Occasionally works in all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, around chemicals and chemical fumes/emissions, dusty & clean environments. Frequently works with electrical and mechanical hazards. When working with surplus and scrap materials, will frequently be required to work outside and/or in an unaired conditioned warehouse. Continuous use of vision, hearing and speech. Frequent sitting, standing, walking and occasional bending. Will lift, carry, pull / push, and reach for supplies and on occasion lifting (up to 50 lbs.) while performing various aspects of the job; Will need to climb stairs, climb ladders, lift and move objects, requires manual dexterity and repetitive use of keyboard/computer devices/power tools/machining equipment; Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.
Hours / Special Conditions
Monday-Friday 8am-5pm; present to fulfill job duties & meet operational demands/support; schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which could include long days, occasional evening & weekends; minimal travel for business meetings or trainings may be required; Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position

Essential Job Functions
- Visually inspect defective cans and remove them
- Operate the sorter machine ensuring its proper operation and the efficient flow of the product
- Maintain visual inspection to prevent line-stopping failure
- Order, transfer, and ensure that the finished product is in its best condition and report any defect in the product to the Supervisor
- Understand acceptable production parameters.
- Have full knowledge of rim coat or UVBC unit
- Maintain track of delivery schedule to determine sorting and transfer procedures, package disposition on pallet, and destination of loaded pallet
- Maintain constant vigilance on packaging material to prevent failure of sorter equipment
- Coordinate with forklift operators the material to be reworked
- Continuously monitor finished product pallets flow along the line
- Responsible for replacing strapper roll material as needed on the finish pallet conveyor
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Required – High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Required – Must be able to safely and efficiently operate a Forklift
- Preferred – 1 or more years of production experience in a high-speed manufacturing setting, including at least 1 year of mechanical experience
- Aptitude in spatial reasoning, attention to detail, and skilled craftsmanship
- Knowledge of the operation of lathes, shapers, milling machines, drill presses, and other related equipment
- Mechanical aptitude and experience (work with machines and general tooling)
- Operate compressors, sandblasters, spray equipment, and other small power equipment
- Use of precision measuring instruments
- A demonstrated experience where quick-thinking and problem solving plays a critical role
- Handle simple and complex heavy industrial equipment like forklifts, scissor lifts, basket trucks and bobcats
- Working knowledge of all automation standard practices
- Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and backgrounds
- Preference will be given to qualified local candidates
- General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site software
