Production Supervisor

Brief Description

The Production Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Production Manager by leading and managing the team members of their assigned shift to ensure production of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations. Coordinates and supervises activities of equipment and workforce throughout the facility with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity, Spoilage and Employee Engagement.

Essential Job Functions

• This position will be responsible for making quality decisions in regards to plant GMP ( Good Manufacturing Practices) and Production norms while overseeing production teams, as well as assisting the Production Manager.
• Will conduct various safety audits of equipment and procedures along with conducting safety observations.
• Will inspect equipment and product to ensure optimum safety, utilization and quality.
• Will communicate with all employees concerning safety, staffing needs, scheduling, problem solving, change actions, overtime, vacations and training.
• Will review and support the master scheduling process to meet production needs.
• Plan process activities and follow established priorities regarding procedures, equipment capabilities, process team performance and staffing levels.
• Review, analyze and act to correct non-conformance in areas of safety, policies, and procedures.
• Lead, coach, and support line process teams in their efforts to improve quality, increase flexibility and reduce costs.
• Conduct required team meetings and safety training.
• Maintain time and attendance records, as well as production data in electronic systems.
• Provide leadership for hourly employees on job performance.
• Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure production and product quality meet specifications.
• Will interface with internal and external vendors to provide parts, support, and training as it relates to production and maintenance.
• Communicate daily, weekly & monthly objectives to the team
• Track and report daily, weekly & monthly objectives to team and Management
• Ensure strict adherence to safety guidelines and company standards
• Other duties to be assigned as necessary.
  
  

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• 3 years experience working as a Production Supervisor or equivalent position, required
• Project management experience, preferred
• Engineering or equivalent degree, preferred
• Demonstrated ability to perform in a 24-hour / 7-day week continuous operation
• Prefer experience in production or experience in an industrial continuous process manufacturing environment

• Good level of assertiveness to challenge and support the team
• Working knowledge & understanding of statistical process control tools and statistical analysis
• Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems, Lab equipment and Control Plans
• Understanding engineering, scientific and other technical information
• Demonstrated ability of budgeting and cost control
• Working knowledge of all automation standard practices
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical schematics for use in system understanding and troubleshooting
• Strong organizational skills and proven ability to maintain accurate, detailed records that will be audited periodically; Ability to work on multiple projects at once with tight deadlines
• Must be able to identify and execute improvement opportunities through both process improvements and system improvements
• Must be a self-starter and have the desire and ability to take ownership and responsibility with little direction
• Ability to be pragmatic in decision making; requires high integrity
• Ability to work with employees from many different cultures and backgrounds
• Preference will be given to qualified local candidates
  
  

Software/Computer Skills & Experience

• General knowledge of basic hardware and software and uses of a variety of different computer operating systems such as Microsoft Office Work, Excel, Outlook, Google Workspace, and web-site software
• PLC user or programming experience is a plus

Daily contact with other departmental personnel. Occasionally works in all weather conditions, extreme temperatures, around chemicals and chemical fumes/emissions, dusty & clean environments. Frequently works with electrical and mechanical hazards. When working with surplus and scrap materials, will frequently be required to work outside and/or in a non-air conditioned warehouse. Continuous use of vision, hearing and speech. Frequent sitting, standing, walking and occasional bending. Will lift, carry, pull / push, and reach for supplies; Wear safety equipment, such as earplugs, goggles, and steel-toed shoes.

Hours / Special Conditions

12 hour rotating shifts 4 days on and 4 days off; Rotating shifts requires working night shifts; Schedule may vary depending on plant operational needs thus flexibility is required which may include long days, evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime; Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this position.
