The contribution you will make:
Seeking a Director to lead the Sample Management department. This role emphasizes cross functional collaboration, automation, scaling, people leadership, and strategic planning. This leadership position is vital to ensuring the integrity, traceability, and accessibility of our world class natural and synthetic sample inventory, supporting cutting-edge research and development.
\n- Stewardship of one of the world’s largest natural product libraries
- Oversee the sample handling, storage, quality control, and documentation for a diverse set of sample types including biomass and small molecules
- Develop, manage, and scale sample management automation systems
- Collaborate closely with biologists, chemists, and software engineers to accelerate our pace of drug discovery and development
- Maintain electronic lab notebook (ELN) best practices including auditing, streamlining, integrating across teams, and developing new capabilities
- Work with large laboratory database systems such as CDD and Benchling for accurate data entry, workflow optimization, and integration with automation tools.
- 5 years of experience leading a sample management organization, or a related role
- Strong background in laboratory automation systems
- Familiarity with implementing and maintaining a high level of quality control
- Experience with database systems and laboratory information management systems such as CDD and Benchling
- Ability to mentor team members, share knowledge, and drive continuous improvement
- Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, with the ability to lead projects involving multiple teams and stakeholders
