Job Description
The Materials Manager approves all waste streams entering the facility, reviews materials for processing, and assigns all outbound profiles for the facility.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Reviews profiles submitted by sales/customer service to insure accuracy and completeness
- Provides regulatory review of EPA, DOT and State designations
- Insures waste material is acceptable within limitations of Part B permit and if not acceptable actively seeks alternative options for treatment
- Obtains approved outbound profile(s) to ultimate disposal site(s)
- Evaluates waste stream(s) (profile) for most cost-effective treatment option, or treatment option requested by customer
- Actively pursues recycle (green options) for traditional streams
- Assesses best method of handling delivered waste taking all treatment, labor, material, equipment and transportation costs into consideration.
- Determines final assignment of process code directly or thru supervision of lab personnel
- Attends and actively participates in all Sales meetings
- Nurtures working relationship between sales and operations
- Actively pursues and evaluates new treatment facilities and technologies for potential cost reduction(s) and sustainability
- Assists in training both technicians and lab personnel on price points and process codes.
- Works with laboratory to convey analytical changes and helps assure samples are moving through the lab in the allotted time
- Routinely audits shipments for routing compliance and load optimization (weight or cubed out)
- Verify and compare actual transportation costs to transportation costs on standard cost model monthly
- Participate in National, Regional and Local bids by assisting with the coding and costing of bids
- Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.
Salary: Up to $82,000
Qualifications
Basic Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and/or Biology with a Chemistry focus
- Industry experience in waste management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 3 years Materials Management or Approvals Management experience at a Treatment, Storage, Disposal, Facility
- EPA, DOT and state regulations
- Operating permits and Waste Analysis Plans
- Waste treatment technologies and available service providers
- Industry experience of 5 Years Hazardous waste management
- HAZWOPER certified
