About this Site:
The Blackstone River Valley National Historical Park is comprised of six noncontiguous sites in northern Rhode Island and central Massachusetts. The intern's office will be located in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, which offers easy access to amenities such as grocery stores, healthcare facilities, and recreational outlets.
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Fish and Feathers Internship Program. The successful candidate will have a passion for natural resource careers and a strong desire to engage with local communities.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement community outreach programs that focus on fishing and birding activities
- Create educational materials, such as social media posts, games, and signage, to promote fish and bird conservation
- Provide information about fishing regulations and ethical birding practices to participants
- Establish or enhance existing fishing and birding programs at the National Park Service site
- Manage and maintain program equipment
Qualifications:
- Ability to hike and conduct field operations in an outdoor setting
- Experience giving presentations and ability to learn new skills and transfer knowledge to participants
- Interest in learning fishing regulations and bird identification for program development and implementation
- Strong interpersonal, oral, listening, and written communication skills
