Join the Latino Heritage Internship Program (LHIP) as a Digital Media intern at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site.
As a member of this esteemed program, you will contribute to developing new media for the park's website, social media, and NPS app. Your primary responsibility will be creating an audio walking tour of the Fort Raleigh Freedom Trail, featuring stops at waysides crafted with previous LHIP interns. This innovative project aims to increase accessibility for diverse digital and on-site visitors. You will also assist in elevating the park's website through expanded webpages and create engaging social media content about the Freedmen's Colony and other interpretive themes. Additionally, you will research, develop, and deliver an interpretive public program about the Freedmen's Colony as an introduction to public interpretation and public speaking. This unique opportunity allows you to shadow other park staff and learn about the overall work of the National Park Service. You will have the chance to engage with park partners and community organizations involved in telling diverse stories through special events and programs. As part of this leadership training program, you will gain hands-on experience in working with new types of media, finding creative solutions, and collaborating with others. You will receive 800 hours towards Public Land Corps (PLC) Hiring Authority, providing eligibility for non-competitive hiring into federal seasonal, term, or permanent positions.
