The Project Registered Nurse provides and/or monitors the medical and first-aid treatment programs on projects or facilities. Performs registered nursing duties in accordance with medical directives approved by the consulting physician and local governing agencies.
RN with a minimum of two clinical practicing nursing experience, including previous and related experience in the construction field.
Major Responsibilities:
Provide occupational, primary and emergency medical services to all Project personnel.
Administers initial first aid treatment to injured or ill personnel and renders subsequent follow-up treatment as needed under the direction of a consulting physician
Provide occupational health and injury management advice, support and direction to enable successful resolution of work injury and health related issues;
Evaluates injuries and/or illnesses which require the services of a physician or hospital and makes referrals as necessary
Carry-out safe standards of nursing care according to legislation, Standard Operating Project policies and procedures
Ensure that all medical equipment is in working order and properly maintained;
Establish and manage a monthly equipment checklist register; the asset register; the equipment maintenance and calibration schedule.
Make weekly inventory of drugs, equipment and consumables
Complete monthly procurement requests to maintain adequate supplies of medications, consumables and equipment.
Ensure medications and supplies are properly stored and within use-by dates;
Inspect and accept shipments of medications and supplies;
Use the Electronic Medical Records Systems as required and ensure accuracy and maintenance of all medical records; what system is this? Bechtel does not have an EMS. IRIS may not be HIPPA compliant.
Dispenses medication in accordance with scope of clinical practice and clinical practice guidelines.
Supports the project drug and alcohol testing program and Conducts drug and alcohol screenings
Establishes and maintains electronic medical records and prepares related reports as required by the project and ES&H Core Processes.
Provides certified First Aid / CPR training to the site First Aid/Rescue Team
Facilitation of the Project’s “Return to Work” Program in conjunction with the workers compensation team.
Assists risk management in claims management
Perform other ES&H duties/training as required
Prepares incident reports as required
Education and Experience Requirements:
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BS/BSN)
Appropriately licensed, qualified, and registered to practice in the state of Indiana as a Registered Nurse;
2-5 years of relevant experience in occupational health and emergency nursing in occupational health and emergency nursing, and a valid nursing license for the location assigned.
Currently practicing as an RN / OHN
Current certification to carry out drug and alcohol testing
Current Basic Life Support certificate required
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Preferable to have a post-graduate qualification in Occupational health.
Experience in working on construction sites.
Experience with workers compensation and regulations.
Proficiency in basic Microsoft computer programs (i.e., Word, Excel, etc.)
Prior experience in occupational health nursing, emergency room, or intensive care unit,
Knowledge of establishing and organizing a first aid/emergency treatment facility
Current certification as a first aid / basic CPR instructor
Current Basic life support (BLS) qualifications
