We are looking to hire Operations Managers for our Janitorial cleaning company.

Environmental Building Services is a Janitorial Cleaning Service.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Operations Manager supervises the management of custodial activities of the staff and supervisors on multiple sites who are responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of hospitals sites.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Thorough knowledge of the qualities, adaptabilities, and uses of common tools, equipment, and materials used in cleaning and maintenance activities
  • Thorough knowledge of methods used in the cleaning of buildings
  • Thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety rules and regulations
  • Considerable knowledge of employee policies and procedures.
  • Ability to operate and use tools and equipment of the janitorial service.
  • Ability to perform janitorial services as needed on job site
  • Ability to maintain cleaning equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to train and supervise a large group of employees.
  • Determines materials, supplies, and equipment needed for site project
  • Selects and assigns staff, ensuring equal employment opportunity in hiring and promotion.
  • Evaluates and verifies employee performance through the review of completed work assignments and work techniques.
  • Must follow established safety precautions for cleaning and maintaining all areas of the facility
  • Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
  • Makes rounds to check on staff and crew coverage of designated work areas, assigns needed coverage, gives special cleaning instructions and/or assignments, and ascertains compliance with directives.
  • Trains subordinates in job skills, proper cleaning methods, and use of equipment, safety practices,
  • Will be responsible to complete daily and weekly reports for submission to management
  • Perform other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by management.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • The employee should be able to function as a first-line supervisor
  • The employee should be able to supervise a variety of subordinate staff, onsite supervisors and/or shift lead at multiple sites
  • Uses independent judgment to apply the guidelines to specific situations
  • Good working knowledge of English, grammar, punctuation, spelling, style, etc.
  • Working knowledge of housecleaning methods, practices and materials used in clean maintenance operations
  • Procedures and methods used to requisition supplies and maintain supply records and reports
  • General knowledge of supervision and leadership principals
  • Ability to articulate effectively in written and oral communication
  • Ability to plan and organize work, delegate work to others, be a self-starter and motivate others
  • Provide leadership to the custodial staff
  • Strong human relations skills with customers, management, co-workers, staff and the community
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs
  • Ability to pick up and carry 65 pounds or more
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time
  • Willingness to attend and participate in training sessions
  • Ability to complete appropriate reports in a timely fashion to direct supervisor
  • Ability to follow policy and procedures and communicate protocols to shift team
  • Ability to learn and practice acceptable cleaning methods
  • Willingness to acquire skills in the operations of cleaning and construction clean up
  • Ability to answer telephones and greet the public in a friendly and courteous manner.
  • Ability to speak in a clear and understandable manner and write legibly.
  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in Supervising experience

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions, stands for prolonged periods of time.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This position is classified as a salary exempt, therefore requires availability to work days, evenings and nights, working Monday through Friday, some Saturdays and Sundays—which is dictated by the needs of the customer, job site and specific project assigned to.

TRAVEL

This position does require that the applicant have reliable transportation and driver license to be able to drive from one site to another site to supervise the staff at the assigned job sites.

Evaluation and Compensation

The Operations Supervisor reports directly to the Company President and receives an initial 90-day evaluation and then an annual performance evaluation. Compensation is based upon an hourly rate, work performance, attendance and policy and procedure compliance and is reviewed in the first 90-days and then annually.
