The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description The Environmental Education Assistant will, under the direction of the Region 5Hunter Education Program (HEP) Coordinator, assist in the duties andresponsibilities of this program. These include recruiting, coordinating, andequipping volunteer instructors, maintaining accurate inventories of equipmentand classroom materials, teaching basic and advanced courses in hunting andtrapping, scheduling classes and coordinating logistics, database management,assisting with the National Archery in Schools Program (NASP) and Becomingan Outdoors-Woman (BOW) Program, participating on the statewide HEP teamand providing administrative support for the regional program. Additionalresponsibilities will include assisting with the implementation of the BearWiseProgram and other wildlife-related outreach projects.
The minimum qualifications required for this vacancy. Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have one year of experience in environmental education programs; or one year college study with specialization in natural science, natural resources, or environmental education.The preferred candidate will have strong communication, outreach, and teaching skills, excellent attention to detail and interest in wildlife management, including hunting, trapping, and/or archery. Experience using MS Office, Adobe Acrobat, and databases preferred. Will be required to speak in public, assist with developing educational materials, and work effectively as part of a team.

Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview. Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position.Travel may be required.Overtime may be required. Overnight travel may be required.Weekends and holidays may be required.
