The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description This position will supervise a work crew of 4-6 staff; will be required to operate a variety of self-propelled heavy equipment; transport tools, materials and heavy equipment to and from job sites; must have a basic knowledge of the Vehicle and Traffic Law as it applies to the safe and legal operation of assigned equipment; may be required to assist in a variety of construction trades, including but not limited to masonry, carpentry, and electrical; basic knowledge of the routine repair and maintenance work needed for equipment; will be required to use and operate a variety of hand and power tools; ability to operate assigned machine in a safe and effective manner; must understand and follow oral and written instructions; perform routine repairs and maintenance on equipment; perform medium to heavy physical labor based on priorities set by others and the abilities of individual crew members; orally instruct crew members in the activities and tasks to be performed and answer questions concerning work procedures; provide and explain written guidelines for work if they are available; personally observe work in progress and that which is completed to ensure adherence to instructions, guidelines, and schedules; keep written records of work performed and materials and labor used; estimate and purchase material for assigned projects.

Minimum Qualifications Two years of full-time, verifiable experience in custodial, grounds or maintenance operation or assisting in a journey-level trade. Must obtain a Class A CDL within 12 months of appointment with appropriate endorsements and no airbrake restriction.
