The duties that the incumbent of the vacancy will be expected to perform. Duties Description Incumbent will serve as the assistant manager of the Chateaugay Fish Hatchery and supervise lower-level fish culturists, hourly employees, and volunteers; plan and supervise the maintenance schedules for the grounds, buildings, equipment, and fish culture facilities; direct construction activities when necessary; perform administrative tasks, including personnel and labor relations issues, employee recruitment, selection, and evaluation of employees; prepare purchase requisitions; evaluate data and prepare reports using valid scientific procedures; plan and direct the annual work program for the hatchery; plan and oversee implementation of the hatchery fish cultural programs; coordinate fish health management plan; and compile and prepare hatchery budget requests to support annual operating costs, including equipment and temporary service needs.

Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications for provisional appointment: Must be a qualified employee of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and have had One year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service as a Fish Culturist 2 or two years of permanent competitive of 55-b/55-c service as a Fish Culturist 1.Minimum qualifications for permanent appointment: Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DECorReinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.orTransfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service as a Fish Culturist 2 and eligible for transfer under Section 70.1*If there is no viable eligible for this title and no more than three individuals interested from among the interested qualified candidates for this position, it may be possible to make a permanent appointment via non-competitive promotion.
