What are the responsibilities and job description for the Archaeology Field Technician - On Call position at Environmental Consulting & Technology, Inc. (ECT)?
ECT is looking to increase its pool of on-call archaeological field technicians. The archaeology field technician performs a variety of archaeological field survey tasks under the supervision of a senior archaeologist or field supervisor. Field assignments can last a few weeks at a time and hours outside of a standard workday. This is an on-call position meaning assignment length will vary and applicants will be required to travel to the job sites from their home locations.
Current and future projects are located in Arizona, Colorado Florida, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
Please note that ECT’s uses its on-call program to evaluate field technicians for part-time and full-time positions based on performance. On-call hires are also eligible to participate in other environmental studies based on experience and need.

$20.00- $25.00 depending based on experience.

Job Duties Include The Following
- Conduct fieldwork including pedestrian surveys and field excavations including shovel test pits along transects.
- Perform fieldwork that requires heavy lifting, pulling, hiking, long days, sitting or standing for extended periods of time.
- Take detailed field notes, map, and excavate archaeological features.
- Contribute to a positive, professional environment.
- A degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or a closely related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.
- GPS skills required.
- Ability to travel on short notice within the United States to remote, rural locations.
- Ability to walk through difficult terrain and work in inclement weather conditions.
