This is a hands-on position and is also responsible for leading and supervising a crew daily including job performance, efficiency, quality control, training, punctuality and safety. Candidates must have direct management experience leading a team, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, excellent communication, ability to complete appropriate paperwork, and possess good leadership skills.

The employee will ensure that the work product meets or exceeds customers’, and management’s, expectations. Safety-focus, initiative, hard-work, proactive problem solving, professionalism and a friendly, customer service attitude is required. Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus. Irrigation experience a plus. Must be proficient in hauling, backing, and parking trailer (Gooseneck experience preferred).

What does the job look like? Daily/Weekly tasks:

  • Daily preparation of trucks, equipment, and inventory
  • Report on-time, in uniform, to review and prepare for the day’s work with the crew. This role should report before the crew & ensure all work is complete before departing for the day.
  • Load tools, equipment and materials along with crew. Secure all equipment safely.
  • Perform truck and trailer safety walk-around.
  • Perform and manage tasks on client’s properties
  • Daily driving of company truck and regularly pull a trailer.
  • Supervising the work of a team assigned to install the landscape design according to plan
  • Work alongside the crew ensuring efficiency and meeting specifications.
  • Perform all tasks needed for the install of landscape and/or other projects (fences, pergolas, custom builds, etc) and/or maintenance of beds and xeriscapes.
  • Train crew on safety, equipment, technique, etc.
  • Proper and safe use of equipment; utilizing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Address questions or concerns with clients and communicate customer’s questions immediately to manager.
  • End of the day duties
  • Ensure all timesheets are filled out properly by the team. Complete all job site reports. Inventory and report all materials used on the job that day.
  • Review and prepare for the next day’s jobs.
  • Unload/load equipment and materials, clean out truck/trailer.
  • Wash equipment used that day and return to storage.
  • Report damaged or broken equipment/tools to manager immediately to get parts on order.
  • Fill truck, equipment, and cans with gas in preparation for the next day (or as necessary).

Qualifications And Expectations

Represent and maintain the company’s values across all activities.

Supervises a crew of 2 or more employees and prioritizes work.

Organizes, supervises, leads and trains employees to complete projects within established guidelines. time frames, and budget to produce exceptional results.

Enforces all company quality standards, policies and procedures and safety requirements.

  • Proficient in operating equipment such as mini-skid; tractor, skid-steer, or loader.

Regularly monitor, train and provide direction and feedback to crew members to ensure efficiency, quality and safety standards are met.

Plan jobs and ensure that the necessary resources and materials are managed efficiently.

Experience in communicating job status to manager, including labor or material needs, and project obstacles to ensure timely completion of project.

Regularly interface with customers to address questions, respond to requests, make reasonable adjustments to the plan, and performing a walk-through with the client when the job is completed to ensure customer satisfaction.
