Wastewater Operator

Position Overview:

The Wastewater Operator is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and monitoring of wastewater treatment systems to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations. This position plays a critical role in protecting public health and the environment by maintaining efficient plant operations and troubleshooting system issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• System Operations:
• Monitor, operate, and adjust treatment processes, including chemical dosing, filtration, and sludge management systems.
• Record and interpret operational data, including flow rates, pH, turbidity, and other process indicators.
• Maintenance and Repairs:
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on pumps, motors, valves, and other equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and process issues and implement solutions promptly.
• Compliance and Reporting:
• Conduct routine sampling and laboratory tests to ensure compliance with discharge permits.
• Maintain accurate logs, records, and reports as required by regulatory agencies and company policies.
• Safety and Environmental Stewardship:
• Adhere to all safety protocols and environmental regulations.
• Respond promptly to emergencies, such as equipment malfunctions or hazardous spills.
• Team Collaboration:
• Work closely with other operators, site managers, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth plant operations.
• Participate in training sessions and stay updated on industry standards and best practices.

Qualifications:

• Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in wastewater treatment or a related field is preferred.
