EnviroScience is seeking a part-time Natural Resources Technical Writer to work remotely in our Pennsylvania region.

The Natural Resources Technical Writer at EnviroScience is responsible for producing high-quality documentation that clearly conveys the practice area workload that extends from surveys, study plans, technical data, biological assessments, and permitting related to wetlands and threatened and endangered species. They should be able to understand and communicate information to diverse stakeholders, project managers, regulatory agencies, and any business lead the team is pursuing. The role requires close collaboration with scientists, project managers, business development staff, and operations to ensure that proposals, reports, study plans, manuals, and guidelines align with regulatory standards, project goals, and client expectations as well as technical scopes and budgets.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare technical scopes of work for proposals and technical reports. Common scopes may include but not limited wetlands, threatened and endangered species, environmental monitoring, and permitting.
- Review and interpretation of data and preparation of reports and work plans.
- Ensure technical documents comply with federal, state, and local regulations and survey protocols.
- Demonstrate the ability to complete concurrent assignments in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and stay on schedule.
- Experience with preparation of project specifications and bid documents a plus.
- Assist in obtaining necessary permits for projects with impacts to wetlands and/or streams.
- Prepare thorough permit application components.
- Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and project managers to translate complex technical data into clear and concise language.
- Participate in meetings with cross-functional teams to gather the necessary technical information.
- Note taking and attention to project details.
- Understanding the company as a whole and all the diverse Practice Areas and how they interact with each other.
- Review and edit documents to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
- Ensure that all written materials are properly referenced, cited, and include accurate data.
- Maintain document version control and organize the technical document library.
- Prepare client-facing documents, including reports, proposals, and project updates.
- Ensure that deliverables meet deadlines and quality standards while reflecting the objectives of the projects.
Work Environment
We need to recruit a special type of candidate. We enjoy and appreciate collaboration and expect great communication from the candidate. We all work very independently, with minimal supervision.
This position is a remote hybrid role, meaning employees will work remotely but may be requested to come into the Stow, Ohio office or other locations for meetings.

Requirements
- Education: B.S./B.A. degree in natural science field of study
- Experience: 5 years of experience in technical writing, preferably within the natural resources field.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills
- Strong knowledge of ecosystems, environmental regulations, and scientific research.
- Proficiency with technical writing tools, such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, and content management systems (CMS).
- Experience with agency permitting and working with regulatory bodies on environmental compliance.
- Strong attention to detail, ensuring technical accuracy and clarity in every document.
- Ability to manage multiple writing projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Capacity to understand and synthesize complex scientific data and environmental information.
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to adjust writing style to meet the needs of different audiences (technical staff, clients, regulatory agencies).
