About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Mechanic with a strong background in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair, particularly with Diesel engines. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing our fleet of vehicles and heavy trucks, ensuring they operate at peak performance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct Regular Maintenance: Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs on a fleet of heavy trucks and vehicles.
- Order Parts: Manage inventory and order necessary parts to ensure timely repairs.
- Track Equipment: Maintain accurate records of equipment usage and maintenance.
- Lead Mechanic: Take charge of overseeing and performing complex repairs, troubleshooting, and maintenance tasks. Lead the team in diagnosing mechanical issues, ensuring high-quality work and adherence to safety standards.
- Maintain Logs: Keep detailed maintenance logs and records.
- Work Under Pressure: Handle repair tasks efficiently, even in challenging conditions and weather.
Qualifications:
- Diesel Engine Knowledge: Must have experience with Diesel engines and diagnostic experience.
- Hydraulic & Electrical Experience: Experience with hydraulic and electrical systems, including troubleshooting and repair, is required.
- Driver’s License: A valid Driver’s License is required. CDL is a plus but not mandatory. Clean driving record is essential.
- Experience: Previous experience in the waste industry or vacuum truck experience is a plus.
- Bilingual: Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
- Skills: Ability to work under pressure and perform well in various weather conditions.
- Lead/Manager Experience: Prior experience in a lead or supervisory role is preferred. Ability to manage and mentor a team, delegate tasks, and ensure quality and safety standards are met.
- Team Player: Strong ability to assist and collaborate with others.
- Talented yet Humble: Skilled in your craft but open to feedback and always striving to improve.
- Smart but Always Learning: Quick to grasp new concepts and committed to continuous learning and personal growth.
