Green hydrogen plays an essential role towards our net-zero mission. Hydrogen has widespread industrial and transport applications. Conventional hydrogen production from fossil fuels is accompanied by the release of large quantities of carbon dioxide. Our innovative technologies use renewable energy and water to produce green hydrogen with zero emission. We aspire to improve efficiency, reduce the cost, and scale the manufacturing to meet booming green hydrogen market.
We are therefore seeking talented and highly motivated Membrane Scientist to join our newly launched H2 Center of Excellence (COE) near Boston, MA. We will work together to create groundbreaking solutions to transform our technologies for low-cost green H2 production.
Responsibilities may include:
- Benchmark membrane performance, durability and cost working closely with vendors and collaborators from industry and academia
- Brainstorm innovative solutions for membrane design and optimization towards performance and durability improvement
- Perform polymer synthesis with controlled molecular weights, phase segregation, ion exchange capacity or water uptake and other properties
- Develop practical approaches for membrane fabrication including solution cast, thermoforming, extrusion, inject molding or laser sintering
- Develop best practice and protocols, e.g, accelerated stress testing (AST), for evaluating membrane mechanical and chemical properties
- Pinpoint underlying membrane degradation mechanisms and bring up mitigating solutions to upgrading the membrane lifetime
- Interact with MEA engineers for electrolyzer performance improvement
- Represent the corporation to interact with vendors, customers, and other stakeholders
Qualifications:
- Ph. D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, Materials Science with 1 years of related experiences or M.S. with at least 3 years of experience
- Experience fuel cells, electrolyzers or similar a plus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be a fast learner and proactive performer
- Must be an innovator with bottom-up ideas
