Job Summary
The Electrical Supervisor is a key role in the Enviva team, responsible for assisting with the electrical team's understanding of the production process and leading troubleshooting and repair of electrical, controls, and some mechanical aspects of production and facilities equipment on assigned shifts. This position provides technical support to Production team members, analyzes production data, and improves safety, uptime, quality, energy consumption, tool change cycle times, and other operational metrics.
Responsibilities
- Organizes a team of electricians actively involved in various craft specialties, including input on evaluations and weekly time approval.
- Responsible for shift schedule, including work station assignments/rotations, employee training, employee vacations, employee breaks, overtime assignments, backup for absent employees, and rotating shifts.
- Diagnoses, delegates, instructs, and carries out skilled activities involving the repair, installation, calibration, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Guarantees adherence to safety practices and principles and maintains electrical equipment to relevant Federal, State, and Local Codes.
- Knowledge and ability to troubleshoot/repair ENI, HMI, PLC's maintenance VFD's, motor controls, and instrumentation.
- Creates and manages work/emergency work orders and prioritizes daily and preventative assignments.
- Monitors production process operating parameters and makes appropriate adjustments to ensure safe and efficient equipment performance.
- Participates in root cause problem-solving and equipment performance improvement efforts to support target OEE levels.
- Identifies corrective action and troubleshooting and to improve reliability of equipment.
- Supervises, trains, and coaches employees to accomplish productivity, safety, quality, and efficiency objectives.
- Coordinates during shutdowns and conducts shift meetings.
- Upkeep of reporting, records, and schematics, documentation of inspections, and confined space monitors.
- Escalates and communicates operational information and issues promptly for proper resolution.
- Supports the production team in improvements to all aspects of production as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Demonstrates an electrical aptitude and comfortable working with high voltages (480V to 4160V).
- Ability to carry out operations safely and efficiently; utilize assigned appliances and tools.
- Demonstrated ability in using hand tools and power tools as required repairing and/or replacing wiring, equipment, and fixtures.
- Strong analytical skills, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to develop and maintain accurate records.
- Must be proficient in basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to interpret sketches, blueprints, shop drawings, and work orders.
- Willing and able to maintain and enforce strict adherence to safety rules and regulations, including safety equipment.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School degree or equivalent plus four (4) years of progressively responsible journey-level electrical experience.
- Or Associate's degree in related field, plus two (2) years of experience.
- Experience in wood products, pelletizing operations, or similar manufacturing environment.
- Proficient in mathematics and measurements.
- Experience in PLC programming and working with automated devices and electrical distribution equipment.
- Computer knowledge; MS Office 365, email, teams, etc.
- Demonstrated leadership including lead person or supervisor back-up experience.
Working Conditions
This position requires working in outdoor environments and in temperatures above 100 degrees and below 32 degrees. The individual must be willing and able to work in hot, humid, cold, and noisy industrial environments. Occasionally walking on slippery or uneven surfaces is also required. Working at heights and confined spaces is essential.
Physical Requirements
The individual must be willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting and pulling up to 50 pounds, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to twelve (12) hours a day. Ability to work from heights and confined spaces is also necessary. Climbing multiple flights of steps, ramps, vertical ladders, scaffolds (fixed or portable), and working around moving equipment and machinery are required. Performing work while wearing PPE, including Arc Flash protection, is also essential.
