POSITION SUMMARY
The Kerner Shipping Lead will coordinate and support the day-to-day activities of the Kerner warehouse. This team member will ensure that the sales orders are completed on time, according to the shipping schedule, ensure integrity of inventory through effective use of ERP and WMS systems and serve as the primary trainer for new employees.
Key performance indicators this employee is responsible for include Order fill rate, order accuracy and cycle count completion rate. The Lead will also drive the company vehicle when needed due to changes in the distribution department schedule or other demands.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Shipping & Warehouse
- Work with the Kerner Shipping Supervisor and Logistics Coordinator to ensure orders are prepared and shipped on schedule
- Drive the company truck between campus buildings when needed
- Send an end of day recap email to the shipping leadership team, advising of successful and deferred order pick-ups, out of stock and low-inventory items, and specific sales orders that are not able to be fulfilled
- Conduct weekly supply check for big-ticket operational supplies including shrink wrap, pallets, corner protectors, etc.
- Responsible for relaying supply requests and ordering needs for the team to keep an adequate supply of shipping materials on hand at all times
- Close the Kerner warehouse nightly, shut-down/charging of equipment and machinery and ensuring proper lock-up of facility
- Provide team direction and support; advise of needed follow-up on people or equipment to supervisors for future action
Inventory
â Perform or guide others in accurate cycle counts according to daily schedule; record results and make appropriate corrections in NetSuite
â Work with Inventory Control on a daily basis to correct any lot discrepancies as discovered
â Assist with daily transfers from the Windward buildings and report any discrepancies
Safety and Other
â Support a safe working environment by reporting any unsafe conditions or observed, unsafe conduct
â Help lead the Shipping team in the maintenance of a clean and orderly workspace throughout the department
â Mentor team on safe behavior daily; assist the Shipping Supervisors with monthly safety trainings as requested
â Drive vehicle to assist with inter-campus deliveries as needed, to include:
o Inventory and inspect goods to be moved to determine quantities and conditions
o Check all load-related documentation to ensure that it is complete and accurate.
o Operate any special loading-related or transport-related equipment needed for successful loading/unloading/transit on vehicles and use other equipment as necessary (chocks, binders, covers, pallet jacks, etc.)
â Learn all aspects of Distribution including cross-training on Material Handler functions, including receiving, Production requests and use of all material handling equipment across campus buildings and other aspects of the ERP and WMS systems
â Train for future coverage possibilities of Materials Handling Lead at the Windward buildings.
â Perform other tasks and projects as directed by the supervisor
SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS
â Ability to communicate effectively with good interpersonal skills
â Ability to use basic math
â Ability to achieve and maintain forklift certification
â Skilled at entering detailed information into shipping & receiving database
â Skilled at estimating weight and using that information to calculate the cost of shipping
â Must have English language proficiency; bilingual in Spanish helpful
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
â High School Diploma or equivalent experience
â Minimum of three years of forklift experience and certification required
â Valid California Driver's License (Class C or above)
â DMV records meet company requirements
â At least one year experience driving 16’-24’ box trucks
â Previous factory-related experience in shipping and receiving preferred
â Previous experience required in inventory control and RF scanning systems
â Must have previous experience with proper packaging methods and able to interpret visual aids used to convey specific packaging requirements

GENERAL WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on a production floor or warehouse environment. The employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts sometimes in high, or precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, ambient air, temperature extremes, fumes or airborne particles, traffic, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but occasionally high.
