What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environmental Associate position at EOG Resources, Inc.?
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting implementation of environmental programs for compliance with laws and regulations as applicable to the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil and gas industry. The primary responsibilities include but are not limited to: spill and remediation support; Review of environmental incidents internally and externally as required; air compliance support through the use of internal applications and data sources, site inventories, site diagram development, support compliance inspections and audits. This position works closely and in conjunction with operations staff and other environmental staff. Assist operations personnel in implementation of environmental stewardship practices for the division. Assist with environmental training preparation and attendance. This position must develop and maintain a working knowledge of applicable regulations. We are looking for a self-motivated, hard-working team player who pays close attention to detail. This position requires an individual who is comfortable working alone while being fully capable of working within a team and interdisciplinary setting. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential. Travel may be required to Divisional, Corporate, or field offices.
Scope of Duties & Responsibilities: *
- Promote environmental awareness at all levels of field management and operations including recurring training of field operation personnel on various standards and/or emerging environmental matters.
- Develop and maintain a working knowledge of environmental regulations pertinent to oil and gas operations and respective to relevant federal, state and local jurisdictions.
- Use of various technologies to evaluate and inspect sites for internal and agency purposes of compliance and process improvement.
- Ability to develop and maintain relationships, manage multiple responsibilities, and meet often aggressive project deadlines.
- Maintain and record equipment inventories to support various compliance programs (ex. air permitting, GHG, SPCC).
- Efficiently input, monitor, and trend a variety of environmental data.
- Other duties: *As required to support operations respective to environmental compliance, and as assigned by the Environmental Manager/Supervisor.
- High School Diploma required, college degree preferred
- 3 years of experience within the oil and gas setting.
- Demonstrate strong planning and organizational skills with strong problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Organized and able to manage multiple concurrent activities and programs timely and with a high degree of accuracy.
- Demonstrated abilities with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) as well as other internal programs as necessary.
- Ability to foster cooperation and collaboration with diverse multi-disciplinary teams.
- Be able to perform job functions independently and able to manage and complete assigned duties with limited supervision.
