We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Embedded Systems Engineer or Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Aerospace Engineering team. This individual will play a key role in the design, development, and testing of embedded systems for aerospace applications. You will apply your expertise in embedded systems, firmware development, control theory, and MATLAB Embedded Coder to create high-performance solutions for flight-critical systems.

Responsibilities
- Firmware Development: Lead the design, implementation, and testing of embedded firmware for aerospace systems, with a focus on control systems, avionics, and flight-critical applications
- MATLAB & Simulink: Utilize MATLAB Embedded Coder to generate production-level code from MATLAB/Simulink models for real-time embedded applications
- Control Theory Application: Lead the design and optimization of control algorithms based on advanced control theory for embedded systems in aerospace environments
- System Integration & Testing: Oversee the integration of embedded firmware with hardware platforms, conduct unit and system-level testing, and troubleshoot issues to meet safety and performance standards
- Leadership & Mentorship: Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior engineers. Lead design reviews and collaborate across teams to ensure cohesive system development
- Collaboration: Work closely with electrical, mechanical, and software engineers to deliver innovative system solutions. Participate in product validation, design reviews, and risk analysis
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain clear and detailed documentation of design specifications, test plans, and technical reports. Ensure all deliverables comply with aerospace industry standards and regulations
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, related field, or equivalent
- 10 years of experience in embedded software or firmware development, ideally within the aerospace or aviation industry
- Proven expertise in control theory and the application of control algorithms in real-time embedded systems
- Strong experience with MATLAB/Simulink and MATLAB Embedded Coder for real-time code generation
- Extensive experience with embedded C/C programming in resource-constrained environments
- Advanced understanding of control systems design and analysis (e.g., PID control, state-space models, system stability)
- Proven ability to develop and debug embedded firmware for various hardware platforms, including microcontrollers, FPGAs, or digital signal processors (DSPs)
- Familiarity with aerospace standards (e.g., DO-178, DO-254) and safety-critical design principles
- Familiarity with model-based design (MBD)
- Knowledge of software testing tools such as JTAG, oscilloscope, logic analyzers, etc.
- The anticipated compensation for this position is $135,000-$165,000/yr, depending on previous experience
