Responsibilities
- Lead the testing, assembly, and integration of spacecraft systems and components, ensuring that all systems meet performance, safety, and quality standards
- Develop test plans, procedures, and test cases to validate spacecraft systems under various operational conditions
- Perform hands-on assembly of spacecraft hardware, including the installation, integration, and verification of sub-systems and components
- Work closely with design, systems engineering, and production teams to ensure seamless integration of new spacecraft systems into the overall spacecraft architecture
- Perform functional, environmental, and qualification testing to validate spacecraft performance
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues encountered during testing and integration processes, providing technical solutions and recommendations
- Support system-level integration activities, including environmental testing (vibration, thermal, vacuum) and performance testing
- Document test results, prepare technical reports, and present findings to internal teams and stakeholders
- Mentor and guide junior engineers in testing, assembly, and integration practices
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of spacecraft test and integration processes
- Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Physics, related Engineering discipline, or equivalent
- 7 years of experience in spacecraft testing, assembly, and integration, with a focus on space systems
- Strong experience with spacecraft hardware integration and system-level testing
- Hands-on experience with spacecraft assembly and integration techniques, including knowledge of cleanroom protocols, tool usage, and safety procedures
- Deep understanding of spacecraft systems, including avionics, propulsion, thermal systems, and structures
- Proficiency in testing methods for spacecraft components (functional, thermal, vacuum, vibration, EMI/EMC, etc.)
- Familiarity with spacecraft test equipment, test fixtures, and instrumentation
- Familiarity with spacecraft simulation tools and analysis software (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, LabVIEW)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to resolve complex technical issues in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team
- Knowledge of relevant aerospace standards (e.g., NASA, ESA, MIL-STD) is desirable
- The anticipated compensation for this position is $135,000-$175,000/yr, depending on previous experience
