Cape Cod's only double Forbes Five-Star resort is seeking a Banquet Captain to join the team and ensure the seamless execution of events and private functions. As a Banquet Captain, you will assist with overseeing the service during banquets, weddings, and other large-scale events, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, and maintaining the highest standards of service. Your attention to detail and ability to work efficiently will ensure that each event runs smoothly, exceeds the needs and expectations, and creates lasting memories for our guests.
The Banquet Captain Additional Responsibilities Include
- Perform setup, service, and breakdown of banquet events including arranging tables, chairs, linens, and decor. Ensure the venue is cleaned and reset for the next event.
- Ensure the proper table settings, lighting, and audio/visual equipment are in place prior to each event.
- Work side by side with the front-of-house team, including servers, bartenders, and other banquet staff.
- Liaise with kitchen and bar staff to ensure food and beverages are served timely and as per the client's specifications.
- Meet with VIP clients and event planners before the event to discuss details of how they the event should be serviced.
- Address any client requests or special needs before and during each event.
- Assist the Banquet Manager with maintaining the timing and flow of each event to ensure all runs according to schedule.
- Ensure the highest level of service is maintained during all events.
- Report any food and beverage items that don’t meet the venue’s quality standard to the Banquet Manager or Chef.
- Resolve any issues or concerns that arise during the event and pass on to the Banquet Manager if it cannot be resolved in the moment
- Work with the team to ensure banquet supplies (e.g., tableware, napkins, glasses, etc.) are available and stocked.
- Monitor usage and report any inventory shortages to the Banquet Manager.
- Adhere to health and safety protocols and cleanliness standards, including but not limited to alcohol service laws and food handling practices.
Required Skills And Qualifications
- Previous experience serving in the hospitality or event industry.
- Strong communication skills.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and remain organized under pressure.
- Customer-service oriented with a focus on client satisfaction.
- Knowledge of food and beverage service standards.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as events typically occur during these times.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time up to 12 hours per day
- Ability to lift and move heavy items (e.g., tables, chairs) as needed up to 40 lbs
