Kennebunkport Resort Collection is seeking a full-time and year-round Maintenance person for our Intown properties.

JOB DESCRIPTION / SUMMARY : This position is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the property. This includes the preservation and preventative maintenance of all hotel rooms / suites, cottages, bungalows, public areas, restaurants, event spaces, spas, grounds, pools, etc. Ensuring the uninterrupted and smooth operation of the facility, the safety, and comfort of guests on-site, and the safety of staff during working hours. This position requires an energetic and service-friendly individual who is focused and detail-oriented with the ability to multitask.

JOB REQUIREMENTS :

  • The candidate should possess a working knowledge of engineering and mechanical concepts and basic knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, and carpentry
  • Ideally, own a pick-up truck or similar vehicle to be able to assist with supply pickups or to assist from time to time with the transfer of equipment from property to property
  • Ability to lift and carry heavy objects, climb ladders, and work in crawl spaces
  • Flexibility with work schedules i.e. available to work weekends and evenings if required and be available to be on call if needed

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

  • Maintenance is responsible for carrying out property maintenance as directed and ensuring that all equipment is regularly maintained and kept in good and economical working order
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of the grounds, including all fencing, gutters, walkways, driveways, liaising with all contracted services such as landscapers, pest control, and garbage removal to keep property immaculately maintained
  • Ensures projects and maintenance are carried out in accordance with company guidelines and budgets, communicating directly with the GM and POM, to meet these goals
  • Maintains guest service to exceed guests’ expectations as a driving philosophy of the hotel
  • Maintenance is required to communicate effectively and efficiently with other departments to ensure room repairs and property maintenance are carried out in a timely and efficient manner, minimizing any inconvenience to guests
  • Maintenance is required to assist guests whenever requested in a timely, friendly, and effective manner
  • The maintenance person will ensure that certain equipment is inspected as required by state law and recorded in the appropriate logs e.g., fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, smoke alarms, fire alarms, also pest control chemicals (if not using a licensed pest control company) lawn care chemicals and pool chemicals should be inspected, treated, and logged daily or whenever required by state law as directed by management
  • Responsible for safe and secure storage of equipment used for repairs and for securing safe work areas
  • Understands “Right to Know” laws, which apply to maintenance supplies and chemicals
  • Maintenance is responsible for the safety of the guests when using common areas through regular inspections of trees, tree branches, fencing, walkways, doorways, steps, stairwells, etc.
  • Responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of the grounds, including all fencing, gutters, walkways, and driveways, including snow removal during winter months
  • Liaising with all contracted services such as landscapers, pest control, and garbage removal to keep property immaculately maintained
  • Guest Service :

  • Maintains guest service as the driving philosophy of the hotel
  • Use the Ten / Five Rule : Always make eye contact within 10 feet of a guest and greet them within 5 feet
  • Consistently exhibits an outgoing personality and a positive, optimistic attitude
  • Other Responsibilities :

  • Enthusiastically assist guests with any maintenance / other issues they may have whenever necessary with respect, professionalism, and friendly service
  • Must be able to be on feet for the entire length of the shift
  • Able to lift 50lbs
  • Be willing to take the extra step to make a guest’s stay memorable
