POSITION OVERVIEW :
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Senior Fiber Optic Technician to join our infrastructure engineering team. The ideal candidates will be responsible for the installation, service, maintenance, repair, and alteration of low voltage category cabling, communications cabling, and other various low voltage cabling systems. This role involves deploying and testing network devices, fiber optic installations, capacity expansions, hardware repairs, and proactive maintenance to ensure optimal network performance.
WHAT YOU'LL DO :
- Network Infrastructure Installation
Install network device chassis per the Engineering Design Package (EDP).
Insert pluggable optics and install / terminate fibre optic jumpers as per EDP.Install duplex fibre, perform fusion splicing, and integrate with trunk fibres.Run and dress CAT6 cabling up to 100 feet from waveserver to designated Meta router.Label fiber, CAT6, devices, power cords, and other components per EDP.Submit installation photos to Meta for verification.Fiber Testing & TroubleshootingPerform fiber path testing using Visual Fault Locator (VFL) and Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR).
Verify MPO connectivity and ensure splices meet 0.1 dB loss at 1550nm.Troubleshoot duplex fibre links, MPO trunks, and splice tray issues.Conduct light level measurements and fibre cleaning for optimal performance.Capacity Adds & UpgradesInventory and move Meta-provided equipment to suite / cage area.
Install additional sleds, pluggable optics, and fibre jumpers as per EDP.Perform fusion splicing and integration of new connections into the network.Conduct labelling and inventory updates, including digital photos and serial number recording.Network Hardware Maintenance & RepairReboot routers, servers, and storage devices as needed.
Perform loopback testing, reseat / replace components, and clean connectors.Remove AC / DC power and swap modular hardware components.Connect test sets or test routers for remote troubleshooting.Conduct tape backup management, including cassette exchange and storage.Planned Maintenance & Circuit MigrationProvide support for planned network maintenance and circuit migrations.
Assist with power cycling of routers, switches, and servers.Work closely with the Meta project team via Meta Messenger to confirm successful changes.Onsite Quality Checks & ReportingComplete and submit onsite deployment checklists.
Participate in visual inspections to assess equipment status.Maintain compliance with safety standards and follow best practices in structured cabling.WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED :
Technical Skills :Strong experience in network device installation and fibre optic cabling.
Proficiency in fusion splicing, fibre testing (VFL, OTDR), and troubleshooting.Knowledge of MPO trunking, duplex fibre, and structured cabling principles.Familiarity with network hardware repair, circuit testing, and DCN / Console cabling.Ability to interpret and implement Engineering Design Packages (EDPs).Certifications & Experience :3 years of experience in network infrastructure deployment.
Certifications such as BICSI, CCNA, JNCIS, or equivalent preferred.Experience working in data centres or large-scale network environments.Soft Skills :Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
Excellent communication skills for interaction with Meta project teams.Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.Ability to work independently and travel to multiple metro locations.Work Environment & Travel Requirements :Work in highly secure data centre environments.
Regular travel to managed metro locations for onsite support.Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in tight spaces.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
Ability to frequently exert force equivalent to lifting up to approximately 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds.Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and more than 20 inches, and ability to adjust focus.Three-dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships.Ability to identify colors and give and receive information through speaking and listening skills.Regular requirements to sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.Frequent need to stand and walk; occasional need to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or bendThe EOS pay range for this job is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Pay Range
70,000—$80,000 USD
