Certified Welding Inspector - Pipeline Project

Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to oversee welding operations and quality control for a major pipeline construction project. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and project specifications while maintaining the highest safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and verify pipeline welding processes, procedures, and completed welds according to API 1104, ASME B31.4/B31.8, and project-specific requirements
- Review and approve Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR)
- Conduct visual inspections of fit-up, root pass, fill passes, and completed welds
- Verify welder qualifications and maintain documentation of welder performance qualifications
- Monitor environmental conditions affecting welding operations
- Perform material verification and tracking
- Document all inspection activities and maintain detailed records
- Issue non-conformance reports and oversee corrective actions
- Conduct field training and mentoring of welders as needed
Required Qualifications
- Valid AWS CWI certification
- Minimum 5 years' experience as a CWI on pipeline projects
- Thorough knowledge of API 1104, ASME B31.4/B31.8 codes
- Experience with various pipeline welding processes (SMAW, GMAW, FCAW)
- Proficient in digital documentation systems and reporting software
- Valid driver's license and ability to work in remote locations
- Physical ability to access difficult terrain and work in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
- API 570 certification
- NACE coating inspection certification
- Previous experience with high-pressure gas pipelines
- Experience with automated welding systems
- Background in pipeline construction or maintenance
