Seeking an experienced Safety Inspector to oversee health, safety, and environmental compliance during a 12-month compressor station construction project in Wyoming. The ideal candidate will ensure all operations adhere to company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and industry best practices while maintaining detailed documentation of safety activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily safety inspections of the construction site, identifying and documenting potential hazards
- Verify contractor and subcontractor compliance with safety regulations and company policies
- Lead and participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, and safety awareness initiatives
- Perform regular safety audits and implement corrective actions when necessary
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and accidents to determine root causes and develop preventive measures
- Monitor weather conditions and advise on appropriate work adaptations for Wyoming's climate extremes
- Review and approve work permits for high-risk activities (hot work, confined space entry, excavation)
- Maintain comprehensive safety documentation and prepare required compliance reports
- Ensure proper use, inspection, and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Coordinate with project management to integrate safety considerations into construction planning
- Minimum 5 years of safety experience in oil and gas, pipeline, or industrial construction
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required
- CSP, CHST, or equivalent safety professional certification strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of OSHA, DOT, EPA, and other applicable regulations
- Experience with compressor stations or similar energy infrastructure projects
- Strong understanding of hazardous area classifications and pressure systems
- Proficient in safety management systems and incident investigation methodologies
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel to remote locations
- Willingness to work in varying weather conditions common to Wyoming
- Ability to walk, climb, and navigate construction sites in all seasons
- Capacity to wear required PPE for extended periods
- Visual acuity sufficient to detect safety hazards and read safety documentation
