Position Summary:
Ephraim Curtis Middle School is seeking a qualified Teacher with Math and Science Certifications to engage students in lessons that support student learning of scientific concepts and practices. The candidate will work professionally with other school and district staff to address a diverse range of student needs. The teacher will also provide math and science instruction to students in the areas of self-management, organization, planning and prioritizing, time management, troubleshooting, and execution of tasks.
Key Math and Science Duties & Responsibilities:
-Teach science curriculum as indicated in the SPS Learning Expectations for Math/Science & Technology/Engineering document;
-Embed the math/science literacy standards of the English Language Arts Curriculum Standards into science lessons;
-Plan and implement engaging science lessons using a variety of effective research-based instructional strategies;
-Differentiate lessons using strategies and materials that address a variety of academic, language, social, emotional, and physical abilities;
-Provide appropriate accommodations and modifications as outlined in student learning plans (e.g. IEP, 504, BCAP, and ISSP);
-Administer standards-based formative and summative assessments, including grade-level common assessments and use resulting data to inform instructional curricular decisions;
-Establish and communicate to students clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects;
-Communicate with parents/guardians and students about student progress and needs;
-Meet with team teachers, counselors, and administrators regularly to discuss student progress;
-Maintain accurate and thorough student records as required by law, district policies, and administrative regulations;
-Follow all administration policies and rules governing students;
-Attend professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops to maintain and improve professional competency;
-Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required;
-Complete other related duties as assigned.
Classification: SEA Unit Position
Work Year: 183 days (1.0 FTE)
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance. All finalists will be required to provide official transcripts.
