Job Summary:
The System Director of Respiratory Therapy is responsible for setting goals and objectives for the development, establishment, and coordination of quality comprehensive respiratory therapy services across the EMH system. Directs the activities of professionals and support personnel in accordance with standards of practice established by Ephraim McDowell Health, the government, and healthcare regulatory agencies and the collaborative interdisciplinary care delivery system. Coordinates and supervises cardiac testing and monitoring services offered by Fort Logan Cardiopulmonary Department. Adheres to the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care Scope of Practice. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Works in office and/or clinical area. May require extended hours or weekend work. Risks exposure to disease, infection and physical strain. Risks exposure to blood, body fluids and tissue. May include high levels of stress requiring problem solving and conflict resolution. Develops and achieves annual departmental goals and targets which support the Medical Center goals and mission statement. Developed and approved yearly with the responsible administrative officer/division Vice President. Moderate amounts in a stationary position. Moderate amount of time spent at computer terminal. Must be able to move or position 20 lbs. independently. Requires fit testing for N95 mask annually.
CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:
Contact with all levels of Medical staff, Associates, and Administration. Contact with patients and patients’ families. Contact with regulatory groups/agency, surveyors, and review teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education: Attended and Graduated from an approved Associate Degree Program in Respiratory Care or an approved Certification Program in Respiratory Care and successful completion of the NBRC Certification Exam. Bachelors of Science Degree.
Experience: Minimal five (5) years experience in clinical area. Experience in leadership position preferred.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR REGISTRATIONS:
A current Respiratory Care Practitioner’s License issued by the Kentucky Board of Respiratory Care. Current Licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with the National Board of Respiratory Care. ACLS, PALS, and NALS/NRP certifications required. A copy of diploma, transcript or primary source verification (PSV) report.
