What are the responsibilities and job description for the PATIENT REGISTRATION CLERK position at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center?
JOB SUMMARY:
Under general direction of the System Director Diagnostic Services, performs registration process for all patients. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).
WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:
Small work station area with above average levels of noise. Must be able to multi-task and work with frequent interruptions. Moderate stress level. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights and sounds. The task of this job does involve a medium risk of exposure to blood, body fluids/tissue, disease, infection, assault and physical strain.. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently and have the physical ability to push patients in wheelchairs. Will work a varied schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. Overtime may occur on a rare occasion.
EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
Data entry and calculator skills required. Excellent communication skills a must. Uses personal terminals, copy machine and computer printers.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR EQUIVALENTS:
Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
Experience: Zero to two (0-2) years previous related registration experience with knowledge of Medical Terminology preferred.
