WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Peer Recovery Specialist will be a part of the Rapid Response Team for adults in St. Johns County, FL. This position will work as part of the rapid response team as they to respond to crisis within the community as they provide on-demand crisis intervention services in any setting in which a behavioral health crisis occurs, including, but not limited to, homes, schools, the community, and emergency departments. This role is defined as an essential healthcare. Will work under the general supervision of the Clinical Director of Rapid Response Services.
Engages with clients using lived experience to develop and skill build towards a meaningful and individualized recovery action plan.
- Works with clients to offer support through phone calls, face to face visits and via video conferencing.
- Self-identifies as a person with direct personal experience living in recovery from mental health and/or substance use conditions.
- Facilitates peer recovery groups and WRAP planning to support ongoing recovery.
- Provides mentoring and support to clients to promote engagement in treatment plan services, advocates for client needs, provides supportive assistance for clients to develop new life skills.
- Meets with individuals/families in the office or at their homes, as indicated by supervisor.
- Provides information, referral services and provides community education to raise community awareness.

This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week and includes the following responsibilities:
· Bridging care to the outpatient setting
· Be able to transport individuals using company vehicle.
· Being comfortable going out into the community on calls
· Teach and role model the value of living in recovery.
· Empower those served by encouraging self-advocacy and normalizing the conversation about mental health and substance use conditions.
· Utilize evidence-based recovery tools and lived experience to promote recovery.
· Encourage individuals to discover community and natural supports to aid in recovery including self-help and wellness tools.
· Coach individuals to identify coping skills and techniques to manage symptoms and navigate challenges on recovery path.
· Document all service activity in a timely manner in adherence to program funding source requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- · High School diploma or equivalent required, Bachelor’s degree in Human Services preferred
- · Prior experience working with crisis settings preferred
- · Three (3) or more years of sustained recovery from substance use disorder
- · Must be able to complete certification program for Peer Support, prefer those currently Certified Peer Recovery Specialist by the Florida Certification Board
- · Level 2 background screen and a negative drug screen· Professional References· Current valid driver’s license in the State of Florida
