WHAT YOU WILL DO
As a Recovery Coach, you will provide peer-based support to individuals in recovery from substance use disorders. Your role is to empower, mentor, and guide individuals through their recovery journey, helping them build resilience, access community resources, and develop the skills needed for long-term recovery success. This position emphasizes non-clinical, strengths-based support to encourage self-directed recovery.
You will collaborate with treatment teams, social service agencies, and recovery support networks to provide individuals with the resources and encouragement they need. Your lived experience with recovery will allow you to connect with clients in a unique and meaningful way.
This is a full-time, in-office/field position (40 hours per week) and includes the following responsibilities:
Peer Support & Mentorship
- Build trusting relationships with individuals in recovery and provide ongoing encouragement.
- Share personal recovery experiences as appropriate to inspire hope and motivate change.
- Provide emotional support, accountability, and guidance to help clients navigate challenges.
- Assist individuals in identifying personal strengths, goals, and strategies for long-term recovery.
Resource Navigation & Advocacy
- Connect individuals with recovery programs, support groups, housing, employment, and healthcare resources.
- Assist clients in overcoming barriers to treatment, education, and employment.
- Advocate for individuals in recovery by helping them navigate social services and healthcare systems.
- Educate clients on relapse prevention strategies and healthy coping mechanisms.
Recovery Planning & Goal Setting
- Collaborate with individuals to develop personalized recovery action plans.
- Encourage self-empowerment and independence in managing recovery-related challenges.
- Help clients set and achieve personal, educational, and career goals.
- Support individuals in building life skills such as budgeting, time management, and communication.
Community Engagement & Program Support
- Facilitate recovery-focused workshops, peer support groups, and wellness activities.
- Promote a recovery-oriented culture within the organization and community.
- Participate in outreach efforts to connect with individuals in need of recovery support.
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions while ensuring confidentiality and ethical standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Lived experience in recovery from substance use disorder (3 years in sustained recovery required).
- High school diploma or equivalent (some college or related certifications preferred).
- Peer Recovery Specialist Certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months of hire).
- Strong communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
- Passion for supporting individuals on their recovery journey.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Great computer skills for documentation and reporting.
· Current valid driver’s license in the State of Florida (required)
· Successful completion of Level 2 background screen and drug screen.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in peer recovery support, substance use treatment, or behavioral health services.
- Knowledge of local recovery resources, harm reduction strategies, and relapse prevention techniques.
- Familiarity with trauma-informed care and motivational interviewing.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
