EPIC Early Learning is seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our team. The Cook will be responsible for preparing and serving balanced, healthy meals that meet the requirements set forth by USDA guidelines. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and a strong commitment to food safety and cleanliness.
In addition to menu planning and meal preparation, the Cook will supervise and train kitchen staff, manage inventory, and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations. Your role will significantly influence the health and happiness of the children we support, making it a vital position in our organization.
Pay Level: $17.30 to $17.82
Responsibilities- Plan and prepare healthy meals for children following USDA guidelines, licensing requirements, and agency policies and procedures.
- Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
- Order and inventory kitchen supplies
- Collaborate with staff on dietary restrictions and meal planning
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment to comply with federal, state, and local health and safety codes.
- Assist in keeping accurate, up-to-date meal production information. Submit all required records according to deadline dates.
- Participate in in-service training, staff meetings, and any additional training necessary for this role.
- Be committed to characterizing a culture of safety within our centers, playgrounds, buses and anywhere that children may be present. Be familiar with and encourage EPICs culture of “See Something, Say Something”.
1. Must be at least 18 years of age
2. High School Diploma or GED
2, Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and required auto insurance.
2. Minimum of two years of experience in a kitchen or culinary setting
3. Knowledge of food safety standards and practices
4. Strong organizational and time management abilities
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
6. Ability to work well in a team environment
7. Passion for cooking and providing nutritious meals for children
8. Speak, read, and write English capably, maintain accurate records and be competent in basic arithmetic.
