Job Summary
EPIC Health Partners is seeking Licensed Mental Health Professional LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist, in the State of Virginia that has experience working in Substance Use programs. Under the supervision of the ARTS Program Director, the Substance Use Clinician works as a member of the team to provide outpatient substance use services to adults ages 18- 99 years of age. The SU Clinician will develop, implement, and maintain clinically appropriate services designed to meet the specific needs of adults with substance use, and/or co-occurring disorders. The clinician conducts clinical assessments and completes required documentation. Provides staff training and group and individual counseling sessions. provides direct services to individuals served.
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide general oversight of clinical service delivery. This includes face-to-face sessions relative to an individual’s assessments, admissions, treatment plan development and implementation, treatment plan modification, and discharge planning.
- Review progress notes
- Manages the process for new referrals, ensuring all required documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
- Provide Crisis Intervention services
- Conduct ISP/Quarterly reviews
- Complete Discharge Summaries
- Maintain a minimum caseload providing individual, group counseling, assessment, and/or crisis intervention to adults and families who are experiencing psychological or adjustment difficulties or problems related to substance use.
- Provide clinical metrics (SAR – Approvals and Denials)
- Conducts and/or reviews and cosigns (fully licensed only) all assessments, diagnose and treatment plans within 24 hours of development or prior to the initiation of treatment.
- Submit service authorization requests (SRA) to identified MCOs in order to express clinical and medical necessity for requested services
- Participate in peer-to-peer reviews with identified MCO, if required
- Conduct collaborative sessions with individuals and CSAC’s in order to facilitate the completion of treatment plans and quarterly reviews.
- Assist in oversight of the quantitative and qualitative record review process for individual files; assurance of compliance with contract, accreditation, and licensure expectations and standards
- Informs staff of changes in policy and procedures as needed.
- Demonstrate effective knowledge of Epic Health Partners’ services and build partnerships with potential stakeholders
- Attends, leads and participates in administrative staff meetings and Division committee meetings
- Maintains confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) as outlined in the Confidentiality Agreement.
- Travels to other locations as required and provides safe transportation according to EPIC’s policies and guidelines as needed to perform job duties.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to read and implement DBHDS/DMAS regulatory standards
- Strong clinical background in evidence-based practices.
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of substance use and co-occurring disorders to include behavioral supports and interventions.
- Course work which includes theories of human development, abnormal and social psychology, current diagnostic statistical manual, family system dynamics, crisis intervention/interviewing, trauma-informed care, and community resources.
- Considerable knowledge of diagnostic categories, treatment modalities, intervention techniques, counseling theories, and community resources.
- Comprehensive knowledge of case management services.
- Comprehensive knowledge and strong skill set of functional needs assessment and service planning procedures.
- Basic understanding of psychotropic medication effects and potential side effects.
- Strong Skill set of communication principles and techniques.
- Ability to provide crisis intervention techniques.
- Ability to build and sustain relations in the community.
- Knowledge of community mental health and public health in order to provide advocacy and enhance an individual’s treatment and access to community resources.
- Skills to communicate effectively to facilitate treatment and relay information to others as part of an interdisciplinary team

Qualifications and Experience:
- Master's degree in social work or counseling from an accredited program.
- Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist, LPC, LCSW, LMFT in the State of Virginia
- Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed care and culturally competent practice
- Strong clinical skills, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Knowledge of addiction, trauma, and co-occurring disorders
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in electronic health records and other relevant software
- Certification in Substance Abuse Counseling preferred
Training:
- Staff must be currently certified in: CPR, First Aid, Management of Aggressive Behavior or Behavioral Supports and verification of Tuberculosis screening.
Background Investigation:
- Staff must successfully complete a criminal background records check conducted by the DBHDS criminal background investigation unit.
- Staff must also have a central registry check completed and must not have any history of positive findings.
