What You’ll Do
Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive evaluations, including medical histories, physical exams, and diagnostic test interpretation.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of urologic conditions, including urinary tract infections (UTIs), overactive bladder (OAB), kidney stones, and urinary retention.
- Assist with preoperative and postoperative care for urologic procedures to ensure seamless patient experiences.
Urology Procedures and Diagnostics
- Perform advanced urologic procedures with expertise, including:
- Urodynamic testing and bladder function assessments.
- Catheter management, including care for suprapubic catheters.
- Intravesical instillations for interstitial cystitis or bladder cancer (per state regulations).
- Bladder ultrasound imaging and other diagnostic evaluations.
- Lead in executing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures essential to urologic care.
Patient Education and Empowerment
- Provide personalized education on urologic health, lifestyle adjustments, and preventive strategies.
- Counsel patients on bladder training techniques and approaches to avoid recurrent conditions.
Collaboration and Teamwork
- Partner with physicians, nurses, and multidisciplinary healthcare providers to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
- Participate in team discussions, quality improvement projects, and collaborative care initiatives.
What You Bring
Education
- Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program.
Certification & Licensure
- Active, unrestricted certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) or Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) in Michigan.
Experience
- Required: Prior experience performing urology procedures, including urodynamics testing.
- At least 2 years of experience in direct urology environments.
- Strong communication, organizational, and critical-thinking skills.
- Familiarity with EMR systems like EPIC, Cerner, or AthenaHealth is a plus.
